ABOUT
Chloe Chow is a pluralistic Asian American performance and multimedia artist based in New York City. Hailing from a family of non-linear migration, Chloe’s work often explores incompleteness in generational inheritance and how memory travels: by physics, language, recipes. She is consistently inspired by transient time beings, food heritage, and her grandmother.
She is currently a member of the Roundabout Directors Group (Cohort 7) and a former member of the SoHo Rep Writer/Director Lab. Select directing credits include: there is no day or night in space (SoHo Rep, Writer/Director Lab developed in collaboration with Jisoo Hope Yoon), Boat Noodle Burglary (Pan Asian Rep NuWorks, developed in collaboration with Chacha Tahng), next to normal (Asian American Theater Project), American Migration (Planet Earth Arts Festival), Solstice Party by Susan Soon He Stanton (Stanford Theater Lab), and Question 27, Question 28 by Chay Yew (Asian American Theater Project).
Chloe graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Theater & Performance Studies (with Honors), a minor in Asian American Studies, and an M.A. in Media Studies. She is a recipient of the Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts, the Sherifa Omade Edoga Prize for Work Addressing Social Issues, the Stanford Asian American Award for Performance/Fine Arts, and the Stanford Award of Excellence. Chloe served as the Artistic Director of the Asian American Theater Project at Stanford University for two years (est. 1978 by David Henry Hwang). During her time leading the organization, she curated two 3-show seasons and developed new annual programs such as the New Works Festival and Summer Play Reading outreach workshops that grew membership, mentorship, and archival resources. She notably catalyzed collaborations with UC Santa Cruz, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, the Cantor Arts Center, Stanford Students in Entertainment, Stanford Speakers Bureau, San Jose Taiko, and the Asian American Studies Program on various events, bridging the Stanford creative community across mediums. When she is not in the rehearsal room or propagating her houseplants, she leads inclusion programs at Disney Entertainment, working closely with Disney Theatrical Group and Marvel on their global initiatives. She is proud to have grown up next to a salmon hatchery, and is happy to tell you about salmon varieties any time.
